Contemporary easter table design ideas

Spring is here and with it, a breath of fresh air! Renewal and rejuvenation is the theme for spring’s biggest family get-together, and John McClain Design is going to show you how to get it done. We’ve come up with the following three tips for creating the perfect Easter tablescape for you and your family to enjoy.

Tip #1: Take it Outside

First off, why not dust off the outdoor dining table and bring your tablescape outside this Easter? The benefits of going outside include restored mental energy and much-needed vitamin D. Plus, easy cleanup after those infamous egg fights! If all you have is a plastic folding table, fear not! We can spruce that up with lush tablecloths and a bit of innovation.

Our favorite go to spring linen design? “La Vie En Rose.” It just screams floral elegance! Don’t forget about the seating. Here’s a simple hack from our designers at John McClain Design: Adorn chairs with ribbon!

If you’re living in areas with colder temperatures, bring the outside inside by taking advantage of natural sunlight and incorporating nature’s beauty to recreate an outdoor feel. Simple greenery can make the perfect table runner. Nothing can be more beautiful than the very flowers that inspire the colorful spirit of spring. Floral centerpieces can be gracefully displayed in vases or creative centerpieces. Cue bird cages adorned with tulips or vintage glassware filled with lilacs!

Tip #2: Brighten the View

Easter is all about bright and cheerful colors. If you’re lacking ideas, we love taking our “hues” from the florals that naturally bloom in spring. Bold yellow and green or baby blue, dusty pink and lavender pastels are popular choices. If you’re opting for a newer look, check out monochromatic Easter tablescapes. Using linens, like table runners and napkins, are a fun way to incorporate these color choices.

Chintz dinnerware and checkered napkins are making their way back in tableware. For more neutral tablescapes, add a bit of texture by using glitter, matte or wood accents. Using wood-based chargers for a boho look, for instance, and investing in matte rose-gold flatware provides the best of both the matte and shiny worlds!

Tip #3: Get Creative

The possibilities are endless here! Think whimsical and delightful elements like moss-covered bunny rabbits or squirrel salt and pepper shakers. Napkin rings, name plates and centerpieces are other ways to introduce elements that are unique to your tablescape. The cutest design idea we’ve seen? Faux bird napkin holders adorned with ribbon!

Don’t just get inventive with tableware. Get creative with the eggs themselves! Silk-tie eggs create intricate visual appeal while chalkboard paint is a chic way to label everyone’s eggs. Heck, you can even use Easter chocolate and candies to create precious focal pieces.

Overall, keep things elegant by utilizing neutral elements to stabilize the whimsical accents. White ceramic pieces are luxurious yet crisp additions to achieve this type of stability. One of our best Easter ceramic finds were delicately painted egg cups. Whatever look you choose, remember: Balance is key!

Till next time…
